Contractor's Top Projects of 2005. We highlight the largest projects that
were under construction in 2005 in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.

Southwest Contractor's Top Projects of 2005 profiles
the largest construction projects that were at least 20 percent complete by the
end of 2005. Projects selected in last year's Top Projects were not eligible for
inclusion in this year's ranking.
The 55 projects featured in this year's
Top Projects are ranked by construction costs, which in some cases are estimated.
Arizona's 20 Top Projects is topped by the massive Intel plant in Chandler
and the rail sections of Metro Light Rail in Phoenix. Several multi-phased,
mixed-use developments also placed high in the charts, including the Scottsdale
Waterfront and Hayden Ferry Lakeside.
The Cosmopolitan Resort &
Casino tops the Nevada list at $1.3 billion. The list also features a plethora
of other residential and hotel high-rises, including Trump International, The
Residences at MGM Grand, Sky Las Vegas and many others.
New Mexico's Top
15 is dominated by public projects, with a mix of public works and highway
projects. The Albuquerque Water Treatment Plant ranks at the top of the New
Mexico list.
Most of the information was gathered through surveys sent
to building teams throughout the region. We also supplemented this research using
data collected by the McGraw-Hill Dodge Construction Network, as well as public
records and press releases. All information is presented as up-to-date as possible
at press time.
