Southwest Contractor's Top Projects of 2005 profiles the largest construction projects that were at least 20 percent complete by the end of 2005. Projects selected in last year's Top Projects were not eligible for inclusion in this year's ranking.

The 55 projects featured in this year's Top Projects are ranked by construction costs, which in some cases are estimated.

Arizona's 20 Top Projects is topped by the massive Intel plant in Chandler and
the rail sections of Metro Light Rail in Phoenix. Several multi-phased, mixed-use developments also placed high in the charts, including the Scottsdale Waterfront
and Hayden Ferry Lakeside.

The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino tops the Nevada list at $1.3 billion. The list
also features a plethora of other residential and hotel high-rises, including Trump International, The Residences at MGM Grand, Sky Las Vegas and many others.

New Mexico's Top 15 is dominated by public projects, with a mix of public works
and highway projects. The Albuquerque Water Treatment Plant ranks at the top
of the New Mexico list.

Most of the information was gathered through surveys sent to building teams throughout the region. We also supplemented this research using data collected by the McGraw-Hill Dodge Construction Network, as well as public records and press releases. All information is presented as up-to-date as possible at press time.
