Centennial Hills Library

Government/Public

Submitted by JMA Architecture Studios

Centennial Hills Library

This new library provides residents with multiple uses within a LEED gold design. The complex, on seven acres, features a 30,000-sq-ft branch library with 160,000 volumes that are tracked using a radio frequency system similar to the kind found in airports. There is also a 17,000-sq-ft, 300-seat capacity theatre and a 15,000-sq-ft central operations center that can be converted into additional library space in the future. Colors and exterior materials such as glazing, stone, stucco and metal shade structures were selected to reflect the surrounding mountains and desert. Interior materials include low maintenance terrazzo, recyclable carpet, eco-resin panels and linoleum countertops. The curved metal suspended ceiling system is engineered to reflect natural daylight to all work surfaces below.
