Jacobs to Provide Testing for NASA White Sands Facility

A subsidiary of Jacobs Engineering Group will provide rocket propulsion testing, materials and components testing and other services for the facility near Las Cruces.

Test and Evaluation Contract at NASA

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that a subsidiary company received a contract to provide test and evaluation services for NASA's White Sands Test Facility, near Las Cruces, N.M. The contract's structure consists of a three-year base period that begins May 2006, with two potential one-year option periods that could extend the contract to five years, for a total possible value of $270.9 million.

Services include rocket propulsion testing, materials and components testing, depot level repair of flight hardware, and maintenance and repair of test systems required for these activities. Support at White Sands historically has focused on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station.

With this win, Jacobs now holds the bulk of the U.S. government's major rocket testing contracts. These contracts include work at the U.S. Air Force's Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, Tenn.; the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Edwards AFB, Calif.; the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, Calif.; NASA Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Miss.; and at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center at Huntsville, Ala.

The Jacobs team includes subcontractors Muniz Engineering; GeoControl Systems; and ERC, Incorporated, all of whom currently support Jacobs' $1.15 billion Engineering Support contract at NASA Johnson Space Center.
