Cameron Construction recently contracted with a private firm in Taos, N.M. to build a 144,000-sq.-ft. multi-use retail and restaurant complex. Construction started in early 2004. The project, a traditional contemporary southwest style design, will be built on 9.5 acres along the Angel Fire highway.

The firm also recently began construction on the Taytsugeh Oweengeh Intergenerational Center for the Pueblo of Tesuque located north of Santa Fe. The 21,830-sq.-ft. , one story community center includes a multi-use gymnasium, weight room, fitness exam room, cardio room, cafeteria and office spaces. Bridging the generations, the center also includes a senior common activity center. The exterior of the center will be a traditional contemporary southwest design with stucco finish and will be accented by the tribal shield. Anticipated completion date is October, 2004.

State to See More Road Funds

Gov. Bill Richardson recently signed new legislation that provides $1.4 billion in funding for 47 road projects in New Mexico.

Dubbed "GRIP," or Gov. Richardson's Improvement Plan, the program utilizes bonding, pay-as-you-go and other financing programs to pay for the projects over an eight-year period.

Projects include light rail, commuter rail, park and ride, airport improvements, bike paths and hiking trails.
