Contractors Win Design/Build Project

Clark & Sullivan Constructors recently won a design/build competition for the $9.75 million phase three expansion of the High Desert State Prison near Indian Springs, Nev.

The expansion includes a 14,000-sq.-ft. gymnasium and a 60,000-sq.-ft. prison industrial facility that includes a dining area, hobby and crafts area and security and detention systems.


Penta Starts 1st Phase of New Timeshares

Las Vegas-based Penta Building Group recently started construction on the Grandview at Las Vegas, a $45 million timeshare project consisting of 96 units.

The project features two, 12-story buildings with a 20,000-sq.-ft. sales center, a waterfall and pool. Eight additional towers are planned.


Performing Arts Center on Tap for Clark County Schools

Roche Constructors Inc. recently won the construction contract for a new, $16.3 million performing arts theater for the Clark County School District.

Designed by Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects of Henderson, Nev., the 16,000-sq.-ft. visual arts building and the 42,000-sq.-ft. performing arts theater are scheduled for completion in May 2005.


Vegas Firms Win 2 Projects

Carson Taylor Harvey Inc. recently announced that it has been named as general contractor for two projects at the Marnall Corporate Center. Both projects broke ground in the fourth quarter of 2003, with an expected completion date of August 2004
Marnell Corrao Associates are the architects on one of the two buildings. One is a 15,000-sq.-ft. single story facility with space for retail, light industrial and office space.
The other project, a 70,000 sq. ft., three story facility, will offer class A office space featuring high end finishes. It is being designed by Howard F. Thompson Associates.


Interior Designers to Work on Corporate Headquarters

Colours Inc., a Nevada-based interior design firm, has been hired in conjunction with Howard F. Thompson Architects for the interior space planning on Southern Highlands new corporate headquarters. Colours president Leslie Parraguirre and her design team will implement conceptual space planning for the developer's new 12,000 square-foot headquarters located in Southern Highlands.


Firm Builds New Supply Store

Panattoni Development and Panattoni Construction are in the process of building a new R Supply's home, with plans calling for a 70,000-sq.-ft. facility at 1095 South Rock Boulevard in Reno.

The building, designed by Blakely Johnson & Ghusn Engineering and Architecture, will feature loading docks, office space, retail space and cost-saving technology such as motion-sensor lighting in areas of the warehouse that automatically reduces to 20 percent power when there is no activity in the area.
