Firm Tapped for Middle School Project

Las Vegas-based CORE Construction, recently announced the firm has been contracted by the Clark County School District to construct Del E. Webb Middle School in Henderson.

The 148,300-sq.-ft. school, located at 2200 Reunion Drive, will be situated on a 20-acre parcel of land. The single-story school project includes learning and special program centers in addition to site improvements. The project is valued at $21 million.
Chuck Coffman is serving as project manager, Bill Bantaum as superintendent, and Jennifer Morones as project coordinator.


Granite Construction to Improve Highway

Granite Construction recently started work on a $34.9 million contract for the construction of a new interchange on U.S. 395 in Reno.

The project includes two new bridges and on and off ramps. There is also extensive excavation, drainage and paving work on the project, which is scheduled for completion in June 2006.


Q & D to Build New Reno Convention Center

Reno-based Q & D Construction is the apparent low bidder to construct the new Reno Convention Center.

The $27.1 million project is a public-private partnership between the city, a group of casino stakeholders in downtown Reno (NEWCO) and the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority.

The subcontractors include Scott Zemp Masonry, Martin Iron Works, Inc., All Weather Roofing DBA Progressive Roofing, Custom Glass, RDA, Inc., Schindler Elevator Corp., Pride Fire Protection.

This fall the city council approved a public art component for the exterior of the center to be completed by glass artist, Cork Marcheschi. A feasibility study completed in 2001 showed that there is a market for a facility that will hold small conventions and trade shows, sporting events and big name entertainers.

Once completed in December, the RSCVA will operate the Reno Event Center.


New Retail Project Underway

Martin-Harris Construction recently broke ground on Gateway Village for owner Tuntland Land and Development. Gateway Village will feature high-end shops and restaurants. The interior will have an open plaza area. Build-out of the project will be 25,785 sq. ft. of specifically designed stores and is located at West Flamingo and Hualapai. Members of the MHC crew are: Project manager Ric Rowlatt, superintendent John Hallaway, project administrator Sandy Cate and job accountant Kris List.


SR To Build New School, Completes Church

SR Construction has been awarded the contract for design and construction an expansion at Hillcrest Academy, located at 1051 Sandy Ridge Avenue in Henderson.
The 18,000-sq.-ft. addition will include eight elementary and six preschool classrooms, a library, conference room and administrative office space. The construction costs for the project are estimated at $2.1 million.

SR Construction has also completed the Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church in Las Vegas. The construction costs of the 5,300-sq.-ft. church sanctuary were estimated at $820,000. Jon Downer served as the project manager.
