Perini Lands the Big One

The Las Vegas office of Perini Building Company was selected for a multi-billion dollar construction contract from MGM Mirage to build a major portion of Project CityCenter.

The estimated value of Perini's construction contract is approximately $3 billion.

Under the current schedule, Perini expects to break ground on Project CityCenter this summer with a planned completion of the entire project by the end of 2009.

The project includes a 4,000-room hotel tower, casino, convention center, showroom, approximately 500,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurants, three branded boutique hotels and numerous residential towers.

Perini will also be responsible for constructing the infrastructure, hardscape and landscape.

Project CityCenter is one of the largest building construction programs currently underway in the United States. Project CityCenter's multi-billion dollar urban complex covering 66 acres is located between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo casino resorts in Las Vegas.

Ehrenkrantz, Eckstut & Kuhn Architects, creator of Battery Park in New York City, developed a master plan that incorporates all of the elements of a high-density, mixed-use urban environment.

The pedestrian oriented complex includes a hotel/casino, upscale hotels, residential luxury condominiums, restaurants, retail, and a wide variety of entertainment.

2nd Phase at Business Park Starts

Construction has commenced at Decatur Crossing Business Park's second phase, after the successful completion of Phase I. The project represents another collaboration between TWC Construction, Inc. and LaPour Partners, Inc.

Ultimately, this master-planned business park will encompass 600,000 sq. ft. of mixed use space for sale or lease, on a 40-acre site.

The first phase consisted of three office/warehouse concrete tilt-up facilities totaling 105,000 sq. ft. Located on 6.81 acres and valued at $3.9 million.

Phase II will add an additional 140,815 sq. ft. of light industrial/flex space in three concrete tilt-up buildings on 9 acres.

The second phase contract is valued at $5.6 million and is scheduled for completion during the fourth quarter, 2005.

New Parking Structures Planned

Jaynes Las Vegas was recently awarded contracts to add more parking spaces in two different locations in the Vegas Valley.

The first, Lewis Street Parking Garage, is a new seven story parking structure to be constructed in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. Situated literally in the shadows of the new Regional Justice Center, the parking garage will provide much needed spaces for the new Justice facility.

The Cottage Grove Parking Garage is on the campus of UNLV. The contract is for the addition of two new floors to be added to the existing four deck structure. The work is to be performed during the holidays in November and December of this year while keeping the garage open. The project was secured by a joint effort between the Albuquerque and Las Vegas offices.
