Robert P. "Bud" Black,
PE, PLS, has joined Carter & Burgess,
Inc., as construction services manager in the firm's
Phoenix Transportation Programs Unit.
In this role, Black will manage day-to-day activities, supervise
inspection staff, and continue the firm's ongoing construction
administration projects for such Phoenix-area clients as the
Arizona Department of Transportation, the Town of Gilbert,
and the City of Goodyear. In addition, he will actively market
new clients for Carter & Burgess' growing Transportation
Programs team.
Black earned a master of business administration degree and
a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University
of Wyoming in Laramie. He is both a registered professional
engineer and a professional land surveyor.
JMA Architecture Studios has recently announced the promotion
of Dan Ballard to project manager of the Commercial Studio.
Some of Ballard's most recent projects include a master plan
of Howard Hughes Corporation's Village Center Circle, Siena
Promenade, Cheyenne Retail Center, Konami Gaming Corporate
office, Silver State Mortgage and several projects for Towbin
Auto.
Arizona Building Systems recently announced several new employees.
Rick Franke is the new general manager and chief operating
officer. Rick has extensive operations background in a number
of industries, including the construction industry.
Dave Manarin has been named business development manager for
Arizona Building Systems. Dave brings nineteen years of construction
background with him to his current position. He is also a
graduate of ASU Del E. Webb School of Construction.
Cheryl Capps has been named controller for Arizona Building
Systems. Ms. Capps has served as accounting director for a
number of companies and brings with her 20years of accounting
experience.
Michael L. Hirschey is the new chief executive officer. Mr.
Hirschey brings over 20 years of experience in enterprise
management, business and product development.
Mike Bontrager was recently named as president of Weitz Company's
Southwest Business Unit.
As president, Bontrager is responsible for long-range planning,
business acquisition, safety evaluation, project planning
and performance and personnel policies and administration,
financial planning, subcontractor relations and innovation
in service delivery.
He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree
in construction engineering.
The Las Vegas office of Carter & Burgess, Inc., recently
expanded its Survey Unit by 50 percent with the addition of
10 new employees, to support upcoming projects from existing
clients.
New staff members are mapping manager Mike Lathan, P.L.S.;
project manager Corbin VanNest, P.L.S.; survey crew coordinators
Andy Rodriguez and Jeff Jensen; party chiefs Brian Houston,
Tim Grady, Greg Boynton and Paul Ikari; and instrument operators
Samuel Terry and Edgar Salcido-Flores.
Chad B. Barnes, P.E. has joined AMEC Earth & Environmental
in Phoenix as a project manager, bringing more than 7 years
of experience to the company's public- and private-sector
clients.
Barnes's expertise includes environmental permitting and auditing,
the development of pollution- prevention and waste-minimization
programs, and the investigation and cleanup of contaminated
groundwater and soil, including state and federal Superfund
sites and leaking-underground-storage-tank sites.
He has a B.S. in Environmental Engineering, with honors, from
Montana College of Science and Technology.
Eric Schultz joins Bradbury Stamm Construction as design/build
project manager for all sizes of commercial and industrial
projects. He is also responsible for managing the Butler pre-engineered
building and roofing systems. His project involvement at Bradbury
Stamm includes the New Mexico Electric Co-op in Moriarty and
the Center for Hands-on Learning in Rio Rancho.
Prior to joining Bradbury Stamm, Eric was with Star Construction,
Heery International in Phoenix and Winkelman Building Corporation
in St. Cloud, Minn.
