Randy J. Sorenson, Sr. has joined CLC Associates Inc. as survey manager of the Phoenix office.
With nearly 40 years experience in the land surveying profession, Sorenson has been involved in virtually all aspects of land survey, civil design and construction management for major residential, commercial and recreational developments.
Sorenson will be responsible for managing all activities of the
Phoenix office survey department.
Thomas & Mack Development Group appointed Richard Myers as president. Myers, who joined Thomas & Mack in July 2003, is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company.
While at Thomas & Mack Development Group, Myers has been involved in the design development and marketing of the firm's successful projects including McCarran Center, Las Vegas Tech Center II and Beltway Business Park master-planned commercial developments.
Myers is the past president of the Southern Nevada Chapter of NAIOP and he continues to serve on the organization's Board of Directors.
Myers graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in business administration.
Thomas & Mack also appointed David Strickland as director of marketing and leasing. In this role, Strickland is responsible for coordinating the marketing and leasing of Thomas & Mack's master-planned business parks, namely the McCarran Center and Beltway Business Park.
Most recently, Strickland worked for CB Richard Ellis. There he was responsible for securing and retaining tenants for more than one million sq ft of the firm's commercial property.
Previously, he was with Coldwell Banker Commercial where he was responsible for overseeing business development and marketing of the team's listings.
Strickland is an active member of NAIOP and serves on the Southern Nevada Chapter's Government Affairs Committee.
Strickland received a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah and a MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Scott Lutes, AIA, and Dominic Monacchio, AIA, received their professional registration with the State of Arizona. They are both project managers/associates with Emc2 Group Architects Planners, PC, in Mesa, and are members of the American Institute of Architects.
Lutes has more than 20 years of experience in design and construction of education, religious and municipal building projects. He has been with the firm since 1993.
Monacchio has more than 14 years of experience in design and construction of education, office buildings and industrial projects. He has been with the firm since 2001, and previously had more than five years of experience in the construction industry.
DMJM Design has appointed Brian Braganza to the interiors practice of the Phoenix office where he will serve as project manager as well as participate in marketing and client development. Braganza brings over 17 years of experience in design and project management to the position.
He is a registered architect and LEED accredited professional. He holds a master's degree in architecture from Washington University.
TRC Worldwide Engineering appointed Hadi Razavi, PhD, PE as senior engineering manager in their Phoenix office.
Mortenson Construction has hired Beth Scarano as director of business development. Scarano will head up Mortenson's efforts in strategic business development and market analysis, marketing and public relations and proposal development.
This newest member of Mortenson's leadership team is a long-time Valley resident who began her career as a marketing and management consultant with a local structural engineering firm and has spent 22 years in the industry.
Barton Malow Company has promoted Tina Reed to director of business development. Reed will oversee all sales, marketing and public relations efforts for Barton Malow's western region.
Reed is also part of the western region management team responsible for strategic planning and implementation, client relations and operational success of all construction projects.
She holds a bachelor of arts in psychology as well as a Construction Management Certification from Arizona Sate University. Her 14 years experience in sales and marketing have been in the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
Elisabeth Shurtleff has joined the Department of Business & Industry as public information officer. Shurtleff is responsible for advancing the visibility of the department and its associated agencies as well as directing a comprehensive communications program to include public relations, media relations, publication design and consumer education and awareness program development.
Shurtleff has a bachelor of arts degree and more than ten years of experience in communications, marketing, project management, special event design and website development and administration.
Hunt Construction Group recently promoted Troy Hoberg to vice president of business development. Hoberg has been in the construction industry for 20 years and joined Hunt seven years ago as director of business development. As the vice president of business development Hoberg will oversee the business development efforts for Hunt's west division.
Hunt also promoted Brent Leif to construction manager. Leif joined Hunt in 1998 as a project engineer and was promoted to project manager. Leif recently served as the project manager overseeing the construction of University of Phoenix stadium and is currently serving in his new role as construction manager on the CityScape development in downtown Phoenix.
Converse Consultants announced the addition of two professionals in its Phoenix office.
Shirlee Rhodes, senior hydrologist joins the firm, providing expertise in groundwater services. Her specific technical expertise includes water resource-related permitting through various state and local agencies on behalf of public and private clients. A graduate of the University of Arizona with an MS in Hydrology and a BS in Geology from Wichita State University, Rhodes has more than 15 years of professional experience in water resources and the environmental engineering industry. Her responsibilities include working closely with municipal clients to prepare Capital Improvement and Master Water Planning budgets.
Patricia Krogh joins the region as Arizona director of client and marketing development. She brings nearly 20 years of expertise in business development, marketing, communications and project development. With an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a degree in journalism form the University of Florida; Krogh has been heavily involved in the construction industry in Arizona for several years. Formerly with two general contractors and director of communications for the Arizona Contractors Association, Krogh will be the focal point for client interaction, market development and communications.
Tetra Tech has hired Morris I. Riback, P.E., MSCE, as senior civil engineer in the Tucson office. Riback has over 21 years of successful professional civil engineering and project management experience in public works, commercial development, subdivision design and construction management for projects throughout Arizona.
Riback's broad engineering expertise also covers large scale master planned developments, municipal water and wastewater projects and major transportation projects.
Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Consultants announced the establishment of their office in Tucson, located at 1790 E. River Road, Suite 142, Tucson, Arizona 85718.
They have also appointed Marek Kasztalski, P.E. as senior geotechnical engineer and Donald M. Estep, Jr. as construction project manager for their Tucson office.
Kasztalski has over 30 years of experience in the industry and has provided geotechnical engineering services to clients in the Tucson area and throughout southern Arizona. He holds both bachelors and masters degrees in civil engineering.
Estep has over 30 years of project management and technical services including performing, coordinating and monitoring field construction testing activities. He has oversight and field quality control support for services for numerous construction projects, including reviewing distribution of reports.
Samantha Rizzo Carlton, 35, died in an automobile accident in Texas on November 24, 2007. Samantha, her husband and two young daughters were traveling back to Phoenix from a Thanksgiving trip.
Samantha was born January 3, 1972 in Massachusetts and moved to Phoenix with her family in 1977.
She graduated from Arizona State University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in architecture, and the University of Michigan in 1999 with a master's degree in architecture.
She was a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Samantha is survived by her husband, Slade Carlton and daughters, Zöe, age 5 and Olivia, age 3; her parents Dick and Kathryn Rizzo; and her sister and brother-in-law Julie and Matt Hyde.
Samantha was a reliable and trusted friend, a devoted and loving wife, and a constant and generous mother. She was respected for how she dealt with life's challenges.
