Brignall Construction Co. Inc. announces two new additions to the staff. Randy Mueller has joined the firm as a project manager and Tammy Parker is the new director of business development.

Mueller’s responsibilities as a project manager include managing and coordinating project team communications, overall project administration, cost control and subcontractor coordination.  Originally from Illinois, Mueller has more than 25 years experience managing a variety of commercial and public sector projects.

Parker has more than eight years experience providing marketing and business development services for the building and design industry. She is managing the firms’ business development efforts as well as all marketing activities.  Parker is involved in professional and civic organizations including the Society for Marketing Professional Services and the Arizona Association of School Business Officials.


Energy Systems Design Inc. announces the following staff promotions: Kurt Langholz, Henry Melcher, and Nate Zachreson have been named vice presidents, Bill Schubert has been named senior associate and Ali Ardebili and Halleh Landon have been named associates.


Don Manthe joined HDR as department manager for the firm’s Arizona offices. He is responsible for two offices in Phoenix, and an office in Tucson. These three offices include 275 staff members with expertise in the transportation, water/wastewater and environmental industries. Manthe has 22 years of leadership experience in all areas of consulting and engineering management. He has proven ability in overseeing operations and technical programs in the areas of water and wastewater engineering, water resources and regulatory permitting. Manthe graduated with a bachelor’s of science in aquatic biology/chemistry from Northern Arizona University and master’s of science in environmental engineering from Louisiana State University. He also received an MBA from Arizona State University.


The Phoenix office of Leo A Daly has appointed Peter A. Nimmer as vice president and director of operations. In this capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing business and internal operations for the Phoenix office. Nimmer has held prominent positions in design and management for more than 30 years. He has an extensive and diverse background in planning, designing and building facilities.  Besides having worked previously for several of the top architecture firms in the Phoenix metro area, Nimmer owned his own firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Illinois and an MBA from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management.


John Holmgreen has joined Road Machinery LLC as a product support sales representative in Prescott. Holmgreen is responsible for parts and service sales in the area. He has over 15 years in the construction industry, the past seven of which have been in the local Prescott area. His previous positions have been in heavy equipment rentals and sales and construction materials, working closely with contractors throughout the area.


Donald Phillips has joined T.L. Roof & Associates Construction Company as a project superintendent.  Phillips has been in the construction industry for seven years. He began as a wireman working for an electrical contractor and also has extensive experience working a project superintendent for a large residential home builder.


Gary Worthy, AIA and Karl Derrah, AIA, were both promoted to principals at DLR Group. As design leader for the Phoenix office, Worthy brings an extensive portfolio of national and international experience, including the National Air and Space Museum Annex of the Smithsonian Museum. Derrah was the project designer for several of DLR Group’s projects in the West. A University of Arizona graduate, Derrah was the lead designer for the Yavapai College - Chino Valley Agribusiness + Science Technology Center and the Yavapai College Main Campus Master Plan.

Other promotions in the firm included new senior associates Eric Hafner, PE, electrical engineer and Eric Neuharth, PE and LEED-AP structural engineer. New associates in the firm include Brian Abrahams, Jared Bliss, Marsha Crockett, Angela Grass, Kelly Gray, Eric Loos, Omar Navarro and Tim O’Dowd.


Megan Stokes has been hired as an estimator for R&O Construction. She has worked as a project estimator for nearly seven years. As an estimator, Stokes is a key employee in bidding and executing successful construction projects. She will work out of R&O’s Las Vegas office.

Kenny W. Harris has been named Maricopa County’s assistant county manager for public works. He will also serve as county engineer. Harris has extensive experience in urban freeway design and construction, as well as several large-scale public works projects.

During Harris’ previous position as city engineer with the City of Phoenix, he was involved with the design and construction of a number of public projects including Phoenix’s City Hall, Science Museum and Central Library.  He also served as director of the Phoenix Development Services Department.

Harris, a civil engineer graduate of Notre Dame, has his profession engineer certification and certificate in management from the International City Manager’s Association. He has also completed Harvard University’s program for senior executives in state and local government.


Bill Oliver has joined General Design & Construction (GDC) as vice president of construction. Oliver’s responsibilities at GDC include identifying and securing future business opportunities and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the entire process of construction. Oliver also oversees contract negotiations and organization of subcontractor involvement.

With more than 20 years of experience in the gaming industry, Oliver possesses a strong record of achievement in providing the necessary operations/facility management expertise to ensure streamlined operations, quality construction management and increased proficiency.


William A. Ames is the recipient of the Arizona State University Alumni Association Alumni Appreciation Award. Ames, or Wink as friends and colleagues know him, received the award for his continued dedication to Arizona State University and the Del. E. Webb School of Construction.

“I’m honored, of course, but I don’t have the heart to tell ASU I went to Cal for my Undergrad!” Ames says. Explaining his great pleasure in serving the University and its construction program, he says that “the Del E. Webb School of Construction is great for the construction industry. I’m just glad to be of help.”

Through his fund raising pursuits, dedication to the education of new contractors and his service to the University and many construction associations, Wink has earned the well deserved reputation as a construction industry resource in Arizona.


JVC Architects announced the company has appointed Albert Frias as a project manager.

Frias brings more than 12 years of commercial, retail, medical and educational architecture experience to JVC and is responsible for developing the retail division of the company. Previously, he served as a project manager for a local architecture firm and was responsible for designing retail and commercial developments. Frias graduated from the University of Houston, Texas with a bachelor of architecture and received his master of architecture from the University of New Mexico.


McCarthy Building Companies Inc. has promoted Jeff Clarkson to vice president of its healthcare services group. Clarkson has worked on several significant projects during his 11-year tenure with McCarthy, from water treatment facilities to hospitals. He was the project director overseeing Banner Gateway Hospital and the Mesa Greenfield Reclamation facility.

Justin Kelton was promoted to director of education services. Kelton was an essential team member in overseeing renovations for the Glendale Union High School District at nine different campuses, and his leadership there will be an asset to McCarthy’s growing education services division. He has been with McCarthy’s Southwest Region for six years.

Chris Jacobson was promoted to project director in the health services group.  Jacobson has focused most of his nine-year career on healthcare projects, most recently as project manager on the Banner Gateway Hospital.

Shawn Ingram and Steve Gotschall were promoted to project directors in the water services group. Ingram has focused much of his work during the past eight years with McCarthy on public works projects, most recently leading the start-up and commissioning of the Mesa Greenfield Reclamation facility. Currently, he is overseeing two new public works projects for McCarthy.

Gotschall has worked on projects all over the country for McCarthy over the past 13 years, including public works, healthcare and casinos. His most recent project was the Mesa Greenfield Reclamation facility, and he will continue to oversee projects in the water services group.
