The largest LEED gold certified industrial project in Nevada, the 53-acre, 319,000-sq-ft, seven-building complex was delivered to the owner six weeks ahead of the baseline schedule and under the established budget.
The project campus uses a ground source geothermal system to minimize energy costs. With natural daylight an important feature, this project includes approximately 3,500 windows -- over an acre of glass. These windows were specially formulated to maximize visual transmittance while minimizing solar heat gain.
The project diverted 97% of the construction waste away from the landfill or 4,689 tons of material that was recycled. This was accomplished in large part by recycling the tilt-panel casting beds, which were crushed onsite and mixed with native rock, also from onsite, into a certified engineered fill.
The building systems are fully automated, where lights, water, cooling, air circulation and even window shades operate based on occupancy comfort and efficient use of energy. The carpet, paint, all adhesives and all sealants have low VOCs, and the wood components don’t contain any added urea or formaldehyde.
The judges commended the project team’s approach to LEED and sustainability at every level.
