Best of Nevada: Golden Eagle Park

Landscape/Urban Design

Text size: A A

This $21 million, 450-acre complex in Sparks is the largest public works project in city history. A half million people annually will enjoy the facilities, which include 140 acres of lighted playing fields. There are six softball and two baseball fields, a stadium-sized soccer/football field, two multi-purpose fields, and volleyball and bocce ball courts. There also are two concessions stands, bleachers, walking trails, playground equipment and picnic areas. The eco-conscious project uses 1.4 million sq ft of synthetic turf, saving 42 million gallons of water over regular turf. Q&D’s value engineering efforts saved the project $700,000.
